Rachel Flaherty, DVM
Dr. Flaherty grew up in Cumberland, Maine where she was an active participant in 4-H, Pony Club, and local dressage and combined training events. A graduate of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Flaherty has been practicing veterinary medicine in Maine since 2003. She is committed to offering client education and the highest quality care and compassion for her patients and clients. Her four-legged family members currently include a rescued off-the-track Thoroughbred named Stoli, and a pack of wonderful dogs. Her dedication to rescue work and helping animals in need led her to establish a nonprofit organization in 2020, Ellie’s Legacy Animal Foundation, which takes in homeless dogs from South Texas, provides medical care, and readys them for eventual adoption here in Maine.

Katy Morris
Katy has been with BCE since 2021. She is the office assistant and your initial contact during regular business hours. Katy grew up in the central Maine woods and was lucky enough to have many different pets during her childhood. Horseback riding lessons eventually led to ownership of a young mare, “Ellie”, who was an eager companion for many explorations! Katy holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Services, and for a number of years she worked connecting seniors to various resources/services. Katy is an avid nature enthusiast, which is reflective in her love of gardening. She loves exploring the natural habitat around her, and has traveled around the country, from New England to Alaska, and many places in between. In her opinion, Maine has always been, and always will be, the most beautiful place in the world!. She loves all our state has to offer, and is always up for a new adventure with her miniature pinscher sidekick, Jada!

Marie Bassett
Marie is the newest member of BCE, and serves as a veterinary assistant/technician. Marie grew up in Southern Maine and has had a passion for horses since she was a small child. She was always drawn to the barn, and started riding dressage at the young age of 8. Her riding quickly branched out to other disciplines, as she explored the worlds of jumping, eventing, and trail riding gaited horses. Although she loves to ride, her biggest passion is horse care and management. She runs a small boarding stable where her two personal horses (Diego and Sylvie) reside. In her free time, she loves to read, cook/bake, and hit the gym to stay healthy!
